The newly restored historic West Shore Train Station on the Newburgh waterfront. Designed by the same firm that gave the world Grand Central Station more than a century ago. Now a popular restaurant destination featuring unparalleled views of the Hudson River Valley and a fine selection of gourmet pizzas.
Following the incredible success of the renovated structure, Cosimo’s Pizza Shop was looking to expand their scenic dining experience. Plans included an extended balcony for patrons looking over the Hudson, however; an existing conditions report with relationship to property boundaries was necessary.
Field technicians at ScanX3D worked closely with land surveyors to reference laser scans to the property lines using several surveyed ground control points. The laser scanner was set up a total of 19 times capturing hundreds of millions of measurement points of the road, sidewalk, deck, walls, building, stairs, trees, rail and much more.
Scanx3D created a detailed 3D surface model of the existing site conditions and produced a topographic plan. The 3D laser scanning provided enormous detail of the existing structure and site conditions. This data served our CAD technicians extremely well during the mapping and modeling phase. The intense wealth of information ultimately lead to the highest quality digital terrain model and topographic plan.
